Autumn News from the Hills
The breeding sheep sales are just about to commence and it is an exciting time of year for all stockmen. Our Shearlings (one year old tups) are designated to go to Lanark Mart in Scotland and we hope to have a good sale.

We are in the process of developing a comprehensive range of high quality, organic, ready made meals which should be ready in time for Christmas.

Steve is in discussions with a top local chef to work in the Cutting Plant kitchen at Monkridge Hill from where these meals will be prepared and marketed.

This is a very exciting project which will bring a whole new concept to support “healthy eating” in a convenient way. We have a lot of ideas and will keep you updated.

After a few months of mild weather the livestock on the farm are looking exceptionally good although would you believe that in some parts of the farm we are short of water – very unusual not only at this time of the year but on this type of farm!

Lamb sales are doing very well with lots of restaurants taking our organic blackfaced lamb. We also will have a comprehensive range of organic beef from belted Galloway cattle for the next three months. These are slightly different in texture from our Aberdeen Angus beef but taste equally as good.

We had a visit (via helicopter!) from some of the top food journalists who are carrying out a culinary tour of the north east. They are visiting speciality food producers throughout the region and we hope to get some good publicity from their visit.

Till next time…..
